This hands-on 2-week course takes you through the essential research methods used by UX professionals, from interviews and surveys to personas, journey maps and digital research tools, guided by an industry-experienced lecturer.

Great design starts with understanding people: their goals, frustrations, behaviours and mental models. User research gives you the tools to gather that understanding systematically and turn it into design decisions that work. In this course you will build core research skills, including planning a research project, running user interviews and contextual enquiries, writing effective surveys, and running card sorting sessions to understand information architecture. In Week 2 you will learn to synthesise your research into personas, empathy maps, user journey maps and scenarios, working with the digital tools modern research teams use daily. You will leave with a Certificate of Completion from the Academy of Digital Arts and a research project that shows you can gather and apply user insights.
In this course you will learn the following skills:
The course runs Mondays and Thursdays from 6 pm to 8 pm. On Tuesdays there will be a check-in session with the lecturer.
Over the runtime of the course you will learn everything from scratch while being instructed by a lecturer.
After the course is finished you will receive a Certificate of Completion.
You will have your project work as part of your portfolio.
