This hands-on 2-week course takes you through planning, running and analysing usability tests, then iterating on your designs based on real findings, guided by an industry-experienced lecturer.

Usability testing is what separates assumption-driven design from evidence-based design. It is how you find out whether your product works before you launch it. In this course you will learn how to plan a usability test, write test scripts, recruit participants, and run moderated and unmoderated sessions using tools like Maze, UserTesting and Zoom. You will develop the analytical skills to identify usability issues, rank them by severity and turn your findings into clear, actionable design recommendations. In Week 2 you will put everything together in a structured testing project, working through a real design challenge from test plan to iteration. You will leave with a Certificate of Completion from the Academy of Digital Arts and a usability testing project that shows your research and design evaluation skills.
In this course you will learn the following skills:
The course runs Mondays and Thursdays from 6 pm to 8 pm. On Tuesdays there will be a check-in session with the lecturer.
Over the runtime of the course you will learn everything from scratch while being instructed by a lecturer.
After the course is finished you will receive a Certificate of Completion.
You will have your project work as part of your portfolio.
