Pine Bezuidenhout, Concept Art

Pine Bezuidenhout studied Concept Art at the Academy of Digital Arts from 2021-2023, and currently works in the film industry as a freelance concept artist.

1) I studied at the academy from 2021-2023, I initially found the academy through one of their open days in 2019. Seeing the facilities and being told about concept art for the first time quickly had me hooked. I wanted to be a concept artist and the academy was the best place to do so.

2) I currently work as a freelance concept artist in the film industry. I've worked on two jobs so far, including "How to make a killing", and am currently looking for more work.

3) The most important thing I took away from my time at the academy was the importance of connections. The connections I made while studying at the academy and at the showcase at the end of each year were invaluable when I was looking for work. You need to learn to market yourself.

4) As much as you may want to jump into the deep end with large extravagant projects and artworks, make sure to never neglect practicing the basics. The better you get at the fundamentals the higher the quality of your work will become.
