Careers

We teach creatives. Sometimes we hire them.

ADA is a small, CHE-accredited creative institution in the middle of Cape Town. Our building is full of concept artists, game developers, graphic designers and UX designers making work that deserves to be seen. When we hire, we hire people who want to be in that room.

Open roles

Content Creator and Social Media Coordinator

Contract position. Approximately 8 hours a week, usually two half days on site. We are looking for someone to capture what is happening inside the academy, turn it into content, and keep that content flowing across our social channels. A content calendar and a brand guideline are supplied, so this is not a role that builds the strategy from scratch. It is a role that makes it happen.

The terms

Independent contractor, starting October 2026 and running initially to February 2027, with potential to extend. Approximately 8 hours a week, usually two half days. The exact days do not need to stay fixed, so that time can shift towards an open day, a showcase or anything else worth capturing.

Where you work

Capture happens on site at 186A Bree Street, in the heart of Cape Town's creative industry. Editing, captions and scheduling can happen wherever suits you. Because a large part of this job is understanding what is going on in the building, it is not a remote social media role. It is also not a desk job.

What you make

Up to seven pieces of published content a week, with five as the floor. A mix of formats, not video only: short form video, photography, graphics, carousels, event content and behind the scenes material. Scheduled ahead in batches and sized correctly for every platform.

What we need from you

A strong visual eye and good taste. The ability to shoot and edit short form video and build straightforward graphics. Comfort across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and Facebook, and with resizing between them. Someone who takes direction well but does not need constant supervision. Reliability matters to us more than anything else on this list.

What this role is not

We would rather be clear up front than waste your time.

  • It is not a creative director role. The look and feel is already set.
  • It is not a brand development role. No style guide work is expected from you.
  • It is not an advertising role. Paid campaigns are handled separately.
  • It is not a strategy role. The calendar and the weekly themes are supplied to you, although we do want you spotting the moments that are not on it.
  • It is not full time. It is a contract, running initially through to February 2027.

Who this could suit

  • A freelance content creator looking for a regular anchor client
  • A social media specialist with room for one more day a week
  • A marketer or creative working part time
  • Someone building their own freelance content business
  • An experienced professional who wants flexible work
  • A younger creator with strong practical skills and enough experience to work independently

Age and years of experience matter considerably less to us than reliability, initiative, taste and the ability to consistently get the work done.

The person we are hoping to find

Someone who walks into the building and thinks: that would make a great post.

Someone who notices the work being made, the people behind it, what is happening in a studio, a good story or an event coming up. Captures it, packages it properly and gets it published. You should be as comfortable pulling out a phone to catch something as it happens as you are sitting down afterwards to edit, schedule and publish it.

The point is not to make attractive content. The point is to make this place feel active, interesting and worth following, and to bring people through the door.

How to apply

There is no CV upload and no cover letter. Round one is a short written interview. It takes about 10 minutes and it asks you to show us your work and tell us how you actually go about making it. If your work fits, we come back to you within a week with a short paid brief.

Nothing listed for you?

We keep a file. Send your portfolio and a short note about what you do to info@ada.ac.za and we will come back to you when something fits.
