JavaScript is one of the world’s most popular scripting languages. In the forever growing creative industry, it is essential to stand out and so knowing how to use JavaScript to enhance your websites is an essential skill for any front-end web developer.

Static (or plain HTML) websites are a thing of the past. Enhance your interaction by creating visually stunning, interactive websites that will impress your user and make your websites stand out from the crowd.
JavaScript will allow you to manipulate HTML/CSS elements, add and remove content dynamically, improve the user experience with interesting transitions & animations, and much more.

Over this 4 week introductory course learners will be taught the basic principles of programming for front-end development and learn how to integrate JavaScript seamlessly into their HTML/CSS designs.

Course Requirements: Basic Computer Skills

Students joining this course should have knowledge and understanding of HTML and CSS, as well as responsive design techniques.

You will receive an Academy of Digital Arts Certificate of Completion. 

Course Price: R6 500 per student

In this course you will learn the following skills:

Programming Fundamentals
Programming fundamentals to give you an overarching understanding how JavaScript works and interacts with the browser in different scenarios.

Introduciton | Syntax & Common Practice | Thinking logically and logic flow-diagrams | Troubleshooting – understanding how to do it and where to look for answers.

The Basics | Variables & Data Types | Operators & Operands | Conditional logic | User-events (such as clicking, scrolling or hovering) | Arrays | For & while loops to reduce repetitive coding.

HTML & CSS Manipulation | HTML manipulation – adding and removing elements from the DOM | CSS manipulation – changing css properties on certain events | Basic animation & transitions

Cool Features | Animated hamburger menu | Sticky navigation | Pop-ups & more | Retrieving data from HTML input on form submission | External Libraries & additional resources.
