What will you learn? _
When it comes to designing for digital platforms such as websites and apps, those able to combine their creative skills with strategic, analytical thinking are worth their weight in gold!
With this in mind, this web design course is geared towards helping you develop that magical combination by integrating practical understanding of how your users think, with conceptual know-how and a great eye for layout and design.
And, as the digital fields are always evolving and expanding, we’ll make sure you’re well versed in staying up to date on industry-standard tools, tricks and procedures, and have all the problem-solving skills you need to become a life-long learner!

& Design Thinking
Front-end digital design is about more than just attractive layouts and functional code. As with any of the creative fields, you need to have a solid, dynamic concept, purpose and plan of action behind what you’re producing to communicate the right message to the right audience. We’ll train you in these theories and processes, and make sure you practice them until they become second nature.

& Principles
When it comes to user interface design, having excellent design and layout skills is fundamental for any web designer. This is the domain of typography, colour, imagery, graphic elements, and visual flow of information - all used to make your websites visually attractive and engaging! While the developers handle the technical side, you’ll be ensuring the platform communicates clearly, looks good, and stays on brand.

Practical Skills
During your year with us, we’ll ensure you receive all the necessary theoretical training, and practical skills needed to conceptualise, plan, design, prototype and test your website layouts and apps. And, as digital technologies are constantly changing, we’ll not only give you a foundation in industry-standard, user-centred UX and UI techniques and software, but also the troubleshooting and life-long learning skills you’re going to need to be able to grow and adapt over the course of your web career.

No Academy of Digital Arts course would be complete without us fulfilling our promise to focus on making our students industry-ready. You’ll be taught by lecturers still active in the field, who will help you understand the necessary procedures and processes used in the workplace, and teach you those vital ‘soft skills’ that you’ll need to professionally interact with clients and colleagues.
Note: Upon completion of this course you will be awarded the Higher Certificate in Web Publishing and Interactive Media, NQF-level 5 (SAQA ID 88182, HEQSF-aligned, H/PR432/E003CAN, 152 Credits).
